CCIE DC: VRRP and HSRP learnt things

Hi Guys

Two new things I learnt about HSRP and VRRP that I did not know.

First of all, did you know HSRP has two versions? Version 1 and 2?

I didn't, and you can configure it under the interface:

Next thing is that both HSRP and VRRP let you specify an option called upper and lower threshold that controls if the device continues to forward as an active router even if it is not active in a vPC peer arrangement, or if it forces it to go over the peer link, very cool and I did not know this

Same with VRRP:

  2. Hehe, see it like this: if at the Active peer the lower threshold is crossed, but the resulting priority is still higher than the priority of the Standby peer, the traffic will be forwarded via the peer-link, BUT the HSRP roles will not change (the Active will remain Active).

    Hope that helps.
